A major fire erupted onboard a container ship (KMTC HONGKONG) berthed at Laem Chabang, Thailand, at around 0600 LT (+7 UTC) May 24. According to eyewitness, at about 1220 UTC fire was still raging onboard while in port.
Generally speaking, it’s a worst possible case of fire on container ship berthed in port. Adding chemicals and hazardous on the fire, emitting poisonous substances, and nobody knows for sure, what’s in containers in or near fire.
A report also shows that about 20 people has been taken to nearby hospitals for chemical poisoning and burns treatment. Meanwhile Thailand authority has advised people not to breath without masks close to the port.

It’s unclear the Chemicals’ character or what really caused the fire.though about 1115 LT (+7 UTC ) fire seems to be under control. Investigation of damages and cause of the fire is in progress.
