offshore or at merchant fleet. You face risk every single day. But when something goes wrong - will your insurance

If you work offshore or at merchant fleet. You face risk every single day. But when something goes wrong – will your insurance actually cover you?

Before you buy any policy, read this first: 5 Key Questions Every Seafarer Should Ask:

1. Does it cover offshore injuries?

Many local or travel insurances don’t cover marine work.

If it says “excludes hazardous professions” – you’re not protected.

2. Is it valid internationally and offshore?

Your next contract might take you to West Africa or the Middle East.

Make sure your coverage isn’t region-locked.

3.  Do you understand the exclusions?

Read the fine print:

 • Are heart conditions excluded?

 • Do they cover COVID quarantine or evacuation?

 • Is repatriation included?

4. What happens in case of disability?

Permanent disability = career-ending for a seafarer.

Does the policy include long-term payouts or retraining support?

5. Does your family get anything if… the worst happens?

Always clarify your death benefit clause. Don’t assume confirm in writing.
